This is Parashant Canyon on the north side of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon National Park. To the left are the Unikaret Mountains and across the valley in the distance lies the First Nations Hualapai Reservation.
This is all part of the Grand Canyon – Parashant National Monument, where there are no paved roads into the monument and no visitor services. The 1,048,325-acre (424,242 ha) monument is larger than the state of Rhode Island. \
The flat spot in the immediate foreground is called Grassy Mountain. On the distant horizon, we can see the snowcapped Elden Mountain in this image lensed early in the morning while flying around the north side of a fast moving rain storm in mid spring.
