Mount Hood glows softly in the early morning blue haze on the left side of this stunning image, while on the right side, the Three Sisters rise up on the horizon across the distance. These 3 mountains are actually volcanic peaks that are part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, a segment of the Cascade Range in western North America extending from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. Each is more than 10,000 feet (3,000 m) in elevation.
