The Winegar Hole Wilderness was designated specifically to provide high-quality habitat for the grizzly bear. Part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, this Wilderness is located on the southern boundary of Yellowstone National Park in western Wyoming. The low rolling hills with numerous wetlands, meadows, and streams are volcanic in origin. A forest of lodgepole pine, Douglas fir, subalpine fir, and Engelmann spruce covers much of the area. The trailless area provides maximum security for the grizzly bear except for one short trail that provides access to Yellowstone National Park.
Zedekiah: “I filmed this image of these beautiful blue mountain lakes and the Falls River (on the left side of the image) while flying above the area waiting for the eclipse of 2017 to occur. I was circling overhead at 13,500 feet waiting for the moment and while circling I photographed a number of stunningly beautiful areas such as this. Fish Lake is at the top of the image while Junco Lake is right below it in the middle, Rock Lake is on the right side and Winegar Lake is at the bottom. All of this area is within the Falls River Basin. I truly love the fact that these lakes and this wilderness still exist in such pristine condition and it is my goal to help increase public awareness of these areas.”
